International Impact

With the red parallel, it made me think Canadian flag, international, red and white, and given Stevie Y had an impact internationally, why not focus on that a bit.

Yzerman hit the international stage early with the 1983 World Juniors where Canada ended up with a bronze. This was followed by a 1984 Canada Cup gold medal, 1985, 1989 and 1990 world championship appearances netting silver, silver and a fourth place finish.

1996 saw the World Cup of Hockey and another silver finish.

The Olympics, which most people likely remember most - 1998 was a 4th place finish and gold in 2002, but it likely is the 2010 Olympics where STeve was working at the top in organizing and running Team Canada and the gold medal at home in Canada that is likely the high point to really attribute to him.

Another bunch of base card keepers, though no Leafs, round out the pack.

33 Packs, 231 Cards, 1,285 Points.

  1. I'm always surprised when I see the words Canada and silver in the same sentence. Maybe I'm just focusing on the late 90's to mid 2000 teams... but those rosters were just loaded with stars. One team had Yzerman, Gretzky, Sakic, Bourque, Brodeur, and Roy. How awesome was that? Seems like they should have won every gold medal placed in front of them.

    1. It does feel that way, and at times, anything less than gold can seem like a disappointment, but that's why they play the games.

    2. Very true. That's why when I don't have a team in the running, I like to root for the underdogs.
