The last pack

Here is the last 15 card pack of wrestling cards I picked up from firstrow.ca. These were a fun bunch to pick up, and the one I left for last looked a bit different from the bunch in types of cards, so we will see if that holds true.

1990 Classics cards. the Hulk Rules, Madness and DiBiase cards are a little weak - they would be excellent as tattoo inserts. The Fuji and Sherri (posed shot), I love these types of cards as they are essential poster cards. I think these were done as posters back in the day, or if not, they could have been.

These are what made the package stand out. It looked like there were a few, and indeed, half the package were these 2008 Topps Chrome cards (Heritage III). Sad that Vader passed away earlier this year before getting in the Hall.

Yay! Insert! Hall of Fame insert from 2015.

All in, just one dupe card...

Well, a good dupe atleast.

That's it - all of the wrestling packs from firstrow.ca - well worth the $25 for the 14 packs of 15 cards, highly recommend checking the site our if you have a chance.

I still have some wrestling stuff aside to open at some point...

Hockey Surprise

Something a bit different today. I have done these before, but it has been a while. I spent $2 on a Hockey Surprise from Dollarama, so let's take a look through it today and see if it was worth the couple bucks.

Well, the card sleeves are a solid dollar right there - then we have 18 cards to make up the other dollar...so a decent enough start.

First, the 4 cards with a guaranteed Hall of Famers....

I'm guess that Greg isn't the hall of famer here...lol...

As for the six official trading cards...

Nice variety of cards, and like the old Fuhr.

Last pack of 90s cards....

Well, at least here you have the best card of the pack with the Tod Sloan Scoring Leader Leaf card. The rest are typical early 90s sets.

Overall, would have liked at least one pack that was more focused, like Canadian team or 2000s, but at least there were a fair number of cards and one good pickup!

Close on my first wrestling insert set

Before that, some more 2016 and 2017 Slam Attax cards in another package from firstrow.ca...

A bunch of new ones for me. I find it hard to believe Rikishi would be marked ahead of Kane, even with the difference in sets. I wouldn't think the scoring would be much different between the two. I also think Honky Tonk deserved a bit better rating, but since his career is long over, as a legend, I'm not sure when the rating is supposed to be reflective of.

Here is the high point of the pack.

With the six additional inserts for 2017 Then Now Forever Finishers and Signature Moves insert set, I have 42 of 50 now. Awesome to have needed this many.

Here are the last two of the pack, and the only dupes. Overall, I would say a definite above average pack!

Still better, but I was wrong

Overall, no complaints, but I was wrong yesterday when I said there'd probably be another Milestones Pujols SN card since there wasn't one, but that doesn't mean there were no good cards as this half still turned out fairly nicely.

Jays:

Like yesterday, neither is new, but both are welcome since that makes 4 Jays in the 80 in this pack.

Insert / Parallels:

Not an SN, but a gold parallel is nice enough.

Keepers:

A bit surprising as there is a bit more Fleer in this one than usual as they are typically very Topps heavy as it were.

Traders:

Junk(ish):

Every now and then, a card in these packs is damaged. Hard to tell here, but there is a rip in the top white border, so this one goes into my packaging materials pile!

A better break

Starting off today with a quick PWE trade with CKBeber329. This was a typical hodgepodge of baseball in 5 cards.

One 1988 Donruss set need -a short print at that. Short prints back then were not like they are now - a staple of base sets - back then it was more a function of how the cards were print, how many to a sheet, not purposely short printing cards.

The rest of the cards - Jays content...

Henke is the first of the three 1988 Donruss All-Star cards that are in the set, and that I now have. As for the Stadium Club cards, they were pretty even back then - though the Carter card would have likely been a bit better if zoomed out just a bit. A good start for the day though getting this package, but not the only thing to look at today.

I have enough of these 80 cards for $3 Dollarama packs, that why not start another today. I will say this, a much better turn out Jays wise compared to the last couple!

Jays:

Fair enough that neither one of these are new or really needed - other than trying for that whole :1 Million Jays" thing. I really like the Cecil card, and this makes six. As for Hill - card number six for that one as well.

Inserts / Patallels:

A while ago I picked up two cards from the set - also two Pujols I believe, so I am going to go out on a limb and say we might just see another one of these tomorrow. I know - technically a supposed base card, but SN - counts as an insert/parallel/whatever else it is that I am collecting...

Keepers:

Only back to 1986 here which is the later end on these - as we have seen some going back into the late 70s. We also have some typical fare from these with 1988 Topps needs and 1989 Topps Traded.

Here is my first 2004 SPx card which has a nice little shine to it. Also nice to get some 2000 and later Topps cards rather than just one or two.

Traders:

No surprises here with plenty of dupes from 1986 through 1991. Though there is at least one more Expo that I can put aside for a certain blogger working on a million of those.

Overall - more like what I want in a half back of these, now to see tomorrow if the pack was just as good on the other side.

Something more than just Artifacts

The last pack of cards from Value Village today, and we get mostly non-Upper Deck Artifacts cards today which, actually worked out a bit better as far as getting more needs and less dupes covered.

till, a lone (but new) Leaf card:

Toronto was his home for about a season and a half, and one of 5 teams he played for in his career.

A bunch of new to me cards, mostly 2009-10 Upper Deck:

Gold reserve cards are different, but not as nice as the regular edition base cards for Upper Deck - the gold would have been fine, but darkening the card as a whole just does too much to take away from the visibility of the card - very clear (and overstated) when scanned.

As for the dupes - more Artifacts if anyone is interested.

I'd say though, that was the best of the bunch...so I saved the best for last I guess.

Not Bobby, but still an Orr

Today, the third package of what seems to be 15 cards again and all these from 2012-13 Artifacts as well. If I had to get a similar pack from Value Village as the others, at least there are a couple distinct highlights for this one.

First, the obvious Leaf cards being one "yay!"

Colton was a tough man winger and spent about 5 years with the Leafs on the back end of his career.

Another few base card keepers...

With Ovechkin being one, I would say this is a step up as far as the keepers go.

Also similar to yesterday, more dupes upon dupes unfortunately. Well, at least I got 4 Ovechkin cards in case anyone needs a copy or two.

As always, just let me know if there is anything you need in the duplicates or traders.

More Village Dupes

Well, I guess dupes in the same package isn't all bad, at least when they are for the team you collect...

Unfortunately, like yesterday, just a few new base cards in the bunch...

And plenty of dupes...
Though again, with Artifacts sets, it is hard to complain about some of the dupes - four of any card is excess, but here, it's Paul Coffey, so a bit of a pass for a Hall of Famer then.

Overall, happy to get some of these, but really would have wished to get more that I needed....maybe tomorrow?
