Chrome Opinions?

So, as you will see below, one of the cards coming up in the 20 today is from basketball 2007 Topps Chrome. It got me thinking about different sets by the same manufacturer and what works, what doesn't. I am not a huge fan of the exclusive rights on sport cards because it really kills competition, which the companies (Topps, Upper Deck) seem to try and make their own competition by producing different sets.

Personally, if they are going to do this, I'd appreciate if the sets are quite different from each other. For example ones that work are Topps vs Topps Chrome - ones I don't think work as well would be Topps and Topps Opening Day (I get it is a timing thing which is supposed to be the difference - but that doesn't seem like "enough" to me. I guess bottom line is, if people will buy enough of them, the card companies will churn out the sets...

Highlights:

Came away with another (2nd) 1991-92 Pro Set Platinum Clark, and another (up to 18 cards in the set now) 1991-92 O Pee Chee Sharks and Russian insert set - at least they make it clear this is the Sharks checklist.
