The Replacements

As a few of the cards originally agreed to were MIA in the box trade with Kahnadah, here are some of the extras which were sent in as replacements. Note, a bunch of the Bruin cards I will be passing on to local collector Jeff who I trade with, but some I do need for set building, and will show those Bruins here. I like to keep the ones I pass on a bit of a surprise for him.

Of the Leaf extras sent, a six pack of new to me cards. Not a surprise on the newer ones, and not a surprise that newer SP Authentic designs remain very basic in design with lots of white.

Plenty of repeat Leafs too...

I just so happened to get another Bower recently before this one, or it would have been new for me also.

As for the Bruin keepers...

A few set builds and a few inserts to make for a solid 8 keepers and about 30 I am not, but all in, another fantastic October box trade with a fellow Canadian. Tomorrow - my second box trade in the month, with Shaw Racing begins. It'll take a few days to get through also!

Not Just Leafs

Continuing on with the cards with the big trade I did with TCDB member Kahnadah, we cover a couple small set helpers to go with more Leaf cards.

Another team set done with Sundin and 2013-14 Upper Deck Artifacts pure care complete, but it's the following year set, I pick up some more base cards as I get closer to finally completing the full base set which started when I bought a single hobby box 5-6 years ago.

Trilogy is a set that has grown on me - though I don't think I even bought any cards from it out in the wild.

We end (kind of) with Timmies cards which continue my goal of getting essentially a 2022-23 master set of sorts - well a full and complete binder which was also provided for the set that year.

As it turns out, some of the cards in the original trade offer were MIA when Kahnadah went to pull, so instead a bunch of Bruins and Leaf other cards were sent, and I will highlight those tomorrow, but as it turns out the following were used for packing the cards for shipping purchases...

Funny enough, that worked out well as I had build a couple decks for fun play which were black, and I needed more swamps so - woo hoo!

The add on cards will be tomorrow...and believe it or not, I have another big box trade to start sharing after that!

More Team Sets Completed

We get to keep going through the trade package from TCDB member Kahnadah today, and happily, like yesterday, we succeed in knocking off a few more Leaf team sets.

2011-12 SPx pure base cards are now all accounted for (that's a theme for me here - finishing base sets where I don't include the serial numbered cards because, come on - base cards shouldn't be serial numbered....unless your set is The Cup maybe.

The massive 2 card 2011-12 Victory Update inserts from the Upper Deck flagship set, and the pure base team set for Artifacts from the same year, now all accounted for as well.

2012-13 SP Authentic is another one to mark off, with it's almost too basic and plain design.

Contenders and Titanium above are the last team sets completed today. It does mean 5 more today which will make any more just icing on the cake, as I think this has probably been my most successful trade for number of Leaf team sets knocked off in a single trade. Helps also that a lot of these are ones I wouldn't have gone out looking for (ie. Panini related products).

Very cool, and still a couple more days worth of cards to get through!

Remembrance Day

Always a day to take a few moments to remember those who gave so much. As much as we like to think that World Wars are behind us and something the world should never see again, we still have severe conflicts come up, and no matter which side you are "on", conflicts that damage human life, the environment and the world, have a lasting impact. I am grateful for all that we have, especially here, but try not to take it for granted as we are constantly reminded that the world is not as big and separate a place as it may have been or seemed hundreds, or even a hundred, years ago.

That said, you are here to see cards, so let's take a look at more cards from my trade with fellow Canadian Kahnadah.

Panini products of the early 2010s...you are here.

I guess the good is the the Certified set is one I didn't have any of, and now have the Leaf pure base set done, so I don't have to think about that one too hard.

Brayden played his entire 2 game NHL career with the Leafs, but found a career in the ECHL and AHL for another 5-6 years after that to round out his professional time.

Phaneuf and Kessel are definitely Leaf players...so I guess, yay, lol. I will say, the Crown design where the card remains vertical is much better to me than the early 2000s designs where the cut was done so the cards were horizontal.

I may never have been a fan of Contenders sets, that Optimus Reime card is a nice one.

I do play favourites though, and Douggie is the winner as far as single cards go from the bunch today. Like that the Panini Elite set here is done, but Douggie actually is the last base Leaf from the 2011-12 Parkhurst Champions set so - yay for that.

Still more to come tomorrow....

Oh Kahnadah

So - got a bunch of cards in a trade with fellow Canadian TCDB member, Kahnadah. I was able to move twice as much in quantity, and get a bunch of new to me cards. SO much so, it'll take a few days to get through these!

Although most of the trade is for Leaf cards, there are a few other items which pop up, like a couple Magic artifact cards I didn't have before. Star in the first bunch is Wayne in the centre, which is the final of the 10 cards in the Gretzky Records insert from 1995-96 Collector's Choice.

To be fair, lots of good "stars" from the bunch though as Felix is the last of 2 Leaf cards for the 1995-96 SP Stars insert Leafs, and Brad Marsh, the last card for my O Pee Chee 1988-89 Leaf team set.

I didn't know about the 1997-98 McDonald's Ice Game Film inserts until getting this one in the trade, and I love the cut design of 2001-02 Pacific Atomic, and now have my Leaf base set done!

Also nice when I can start and end a team set all in one trade, which is what we have with 2001-02 Topps Reserve with all four cards picked up here.

I may not be a big fan of the In The Game products, but Leafs are Leafs, and at least some are nice throwback subjects.

Surprised I didn't have the Ultra Gold Sundin yet, but not an issue anymore!

Just the start, and we even end with a one and done Leaf insert set with the 2009-10 Upper Deck Victory Stars of the Game card.

Very happy with how many team sets I unexpectedly finished off so far, and hope there maybe more as we go through the rest of this trade!

A Trade With sspeagle

Today's share, another first time trade partner, and a bunch of Jays. I don't get any team sets done here, but a bunch of new and interesting cards.

Sure, a 1993 Joe Carter is fairly common fare, but then we get to 2000 and early 2000s where I have plenty of holes in my Jays collection. I was never really a Shannon Stewart fan, and he wasn't one of my fave Jays centre fielders, but new Jays cards are new Jays cards.

I probably missed the fact I put two Zaun cards down, but I guess they won't be lonely coming in a pair. The 2009 O Pee Chee set is a great looking card and base set, and I constantly forget that until I see a card again.

The 2022 Chapman is the base version as I actually got the short print ahead of getting the real base card, for whatever reason.

Always appreciate these trades and sharing, and that's why starting tomorrow, one of the big box trades I did from October that I can start sharing, but it'll take a few days...lots of goodies though!

Moore For Less

Today, another trade from TCDB, but a wee small one with only 4 cards coming my way, but still a nice one with coachmoore11 - a first time trade partner.

I will say, great communication - before sending, I was told the Nolan was the wrong version as I was looking for one of the error versions, but I figured it was fine, I'll find it a home, so trade went ahead as planned.

Besides - the Bo error card and getting a couple Jays cards that are not of your regular base variety, made it a fine enough PWE trade.

I always like picking up Sports Illustrated cards, especially when they are in solid condition since many didn't survive well.

Also - the Hitting Machines insert set from 1994 Ultra was all of 10 cards, but three of them Jays. Just tells you the team they had (though at that point, a bit past their hey day).

A great trade, and a quick share for today!
