Varied Variations

Another trade share today, and it's all about variations - and my not checking about them, but being fine with it. The trade was with TCDB member DaveK_ND and had a bunch of hockey around the 1990 time frame.

With the 1989-90 Topps set, the copyright lines had a different letter reference related to the printing. A small micro variation, and in this case the card has either a C or a D in the line. This one came with the wrong letter from what was listed. I don't blame anyone in the trade for it - when it was offered, I consciously didn't ask to confirm because, even if it wasn't, I was happy with the trade and would just make the adjustment on my side when it was received. After the fact, I thought it's possible they may not want to trade the cards if they knew the variation, so maybe I should have mentioned it after all. I would have if for some reason there was a different value to it (ie. 1991 Topps Fred McGriff picture variation or Frank Thomas 1990 Topps no name card, but those are a bit more obvious anyway).

As for the rest, they are hologram differences, listed as one type, but showed up as another. Again,

The rest of the trade is a few set fillers on a set I haven't seen added to in a while - 2007-08 Upper Deck Mini-Jersey. I have most of the 100 card pure base set, but missing most of the 50 card short print / rookie cards. I'd be happy just getting the 100 card piece done, but have a dozen or so left to go, but at least it's three fewer than before this trade! As you can see all goalies, which if I recall was a theme from an earlier lot purchase - must have had a goalie collector take those before the lot got to me.
