Toronto Box Day 31 - The End of the box

The end of the year, and dilemma19 brings me the end of two small sets - the 1991 Donruss Toronto Bue Jays team set, and the Donruss Diamond Kings subset as well.

As you can see, a bunch of new to me 1990 Leaf and 1994 Leaf. I really like the checklist for 1994 Leaf, it is done really nicely.

The last card in the bunch...

Brings me down to only two remaining cards left in the 1991 Leaf set.

As for the Toronto Box...here we are - final day, so let's see how we end.

New for my collection:

I am pleasantly surprised that, with 31 days, I had new cards each and every day. I wouldn't have thought there would be enough variety to allow for it, but I guess it shows I had enough holes to fill!

Even though it was written on (D in the bottom left corner), I like the old Whitt card. Sure I'd love a cleaner version, but I won't be picky for the early years.

Also the additional mid-80 O Pee Chee Leafs are great adds too.

Plenty of keeping duplicates:

A lot of the usual suspects here for late 80s Jays.

Coupled with the ones from yesterday, that is alot of 1990 Topps Jays!

Even additional copies of 80s Leafs which are sweet. It may be a little hokey to some, but the hockey stick design is simple, but works - just like 1982 Donruss' baseball bat.

Actually also a few keeps that were not Jays....

Well, not Jays at the time of these cards at least. Talk a bout a group of cards that don't look right. These are all teams I don't think of for the respective players. Any Stieb in anything other than a Jays uni is just not allowed.

The last card of the box...

Not one I am keeping as I don't keep the minor league Jays related cards.

Not a bad final day at all, and final totals are...

Blue Jays Leafs Other
New Base 94 241 58
New Other 18 13
Dupes Base 436 620
Dupes Other 16 7
Total 564 881 58 1503

I'll say one last time - best $5 I ever spent on the hobby because it directly added to my collection in so many ways. Sure there were no 1/1s or SNs and not many inserts or parallels, but even just considering the cards new to my collection, it was less than 2 cents each.

A great way to end this year, and hopefully next year I will be able to find something just as wonderful.

We will start the new year tomorrow and before getting back to the last couple thousand cards of the Santa Lot, get to some Christmas stuff and other things first. A good way to start the new year I hope.

Toronto Box Day 30 - Some older stuff

First, continuing the trend of a merry dileema19 Christmas, actually going to go through two packets today because there were two that were all 1991 Bowman. I had quite a way to go on this one, and now am about 50 cards short on the set, but that is a lot closer having received all of these...

That is a BUNCH of Bowman goodness!

Throughout the box of cards, not unexpectedly, we have seen a few cards in the late 80s, but nothing further really. Well, today I think we get as far back as we are going to...the mid 80s...

I seem to recall having more 1986 O Pee Chee hockey cards back in the day, but must have gotten rid of them at some point. Oh well, at least I have a few more of them back now.

I am especially fond of the 1986-07 O Pee Chee design given the colour scheme and being a Leaf fan and all.

As for the plentiful dupes today...

Almost ended up with an entire team set of 1990 Topps Jays in todays cards alone. Also, was abloe to finish the short 1993 O Pee Chee Premier set as well.

Seem to be getting a lot of Ultimate Six cards each of the last few days, and a bunch of 80s O Pee Chee I didn't need (but still am quite happy to get.

Tomorrow is New Years Eve...man, this year just seemed to fly by...

Toronto Box Day 29 - Closing in on the end

Today's dilemma19 cards are out of 1988 and working on meeting a bunch of 1988 Donruss set needs, and a few Leaf set Blue Jays as well.

These were basically all needs for the set completion which brings it all the way down to about 18 cards remaining!

Add in a few Leaf Jays...

And there is one good batch of cards, or should I say, yet another one as each of these does massive good for my set completions.

As for the Toronto Box....

Keepers....

I definitely have something awry on my Pinnacle cards as a couple of these I had aside, so must have mixed the languages. I plan to review these when I am done this month and correct my collection accordingly - mistakes happen. Luckily Blacks cards continue to happen with the addition of another here (which makes 4).

Dupes...

I do enjoy the Clancy card with the baseball/glove right on shot.

Lastly, a single trader card...

Already had one come up which I am keeping since I am still in the phase of keeping one of any card I have, though I think that will change some time in the next year or two as I will focus more on just what I collect.

Toronto Box Day 28 - An error or two too

I know I am a couple days behind on this - but with young kids, following the news just doesn't happen on a timely basis. Sad to know Johnny Bower passed away. He bolstered the Leafs from the late 50s through most of the 60s and was part of the last Toronto team to hoist The Cup. Sad to see him go.

As far as cards are concerned, first up, a huge help to the 1987 Leaf set I was working on (well, started working on when I happened into about 200 of the cards). This is the package from dilemma19 for today...

Yeah, the set need is now done to about a dozen cards - sweet! Another set I seemed to be missing a number of checklists from...but those are out of the way now.

There were also a couple Jays in the package today which aren't needed forthe set (one being a Donruss one instead of a Leaf card).

As for the Toronto Box, haven't had too many error adds out of the box, but a couple extra copies I needed of cards for just that purpose.

Yup, still needed copies of 1989 Fleer for my collection

Even a second needed Manny Lee here. Kinda bad a remember him for being synonymous with swinging at pitches that bounce before getting to home plate. I am sure I saw it only once or twice (or more), but those instances stuck with me for better or worse.

There will be other cards too...

Still plenty of dupes for the collection too....

Blue Jays Leafs Other

Dupes Base 338 528
Dupes Other 16 4
