Set Building

I have a number of baseball set builds which I happened to gather some cards from Shaw Racing to stick into our big trade. I am not showing every card, but every set is represented.

1982 Topps continues to build, and probably will until I need a certain Baltimore rookie card, but we will deal with that when we get there.

1990 Bowman slowly gets plucked away at as well, but below is a fun one...

The Conlon sets of the early 1990s may not lock stunning, but the attention to stars of the early days in baseball is fantastic. I have appreciated the set for a while, but just never had many cards in it. Here I picked up about 50 which makes up (a bit) for me missing out on a box of the cards for $20 which I wasn't quick enough on Kijiji (think Canada Craig's list).

The backs look much like a newspaper and have lots of stats and facts to them which suits me just fine!

Studio sets from the early 90s are ones I am still building and we get plenty of help on them here. Again, it's not so much the design, but the photography being so different from the typical sets, and the fun facts on the backs that make these stand out to me.

Swell works along the same line as the Conlon sets to me.

It wasn't until sharing the above that I realized what a scary post I could make matching up the backs of some of the cards to create mashed faces...yikes!

2012 Topps base got much more help than what is shown here, but I still have a long way to go on that one. I just picked a year and set and this happened to come up, so I thought, why not - better now than never on getting the build going!

Tomorrow....maybe the error cards next? Yup, plenty of those too.

  1. I'd love to build and binder up a complete run of the early 90's Conlon sets. So much early baseball history in those sets.

  2. The Conlons are great, I used to have the first series and would love to have them again someday.
