So, I picked up a couple handfuls worth of Magic singles from mostly older sets - just some cards not overly expensive, but in stock at 401games, so I figure I'd get them while they were around, and the Cihuahua is a reminder I wasn't expecting to get when going over the cards.
Flavour text on Magic cards can be fantastic, and on the "Un" sets, they took a number of time related references, and that's what we get on the Sombrero. Back in the 90s, Taco Bell of course had a massive hit with commercials starring a Chihuahua - if you don't remember or weren't around for it, a quick search on YouTube should find some examples.
The other fun blasts from the 90s are the couple Collector's edition cards which were the only sets where the Magic cards did not have rounded card corners.
The middle two cards seem off colour because they were foil cards from the early sets when MTG introduced the foil parallel sets - when the cards were rare (I think every 100 cards or so - something like that so you would only get a handful or so in a box. Back when they were special, and even commons had a premium to the foil cards - though these couple were cheap still picking up now at less than a dollar each.
Maybe I shouldn't have picked up these cards yet from The Borthers' War set since I still have a bundle to open from it, but since these were all new to me and I will keep 4 of each card, I should still be good!
Always easy to spend a few bucks on some of the many, many cards in Magic I still want but don't have!

Small annoying little mouthy thing ? I thought the headline meant you pulled a Matthew Barnaby card.
