A one card trade, so a one card post. I don't usually do one card trades, put since it was for a short print I didn't have, I figured why not. Helped to give a new and better home to one of my cards, so all good. This trade was with TCDB member tjdwortzky and I received the following 2001 Bowman Heritage card...
Alex Gonzalez was supposed to be a great shortstop for Toronto and though he ended up doing fine enough, wasn't the franchise type player he was supposed to be. That's okay, can't all Ozzie Smith or Cal Ripken Jr. at shortstop, and it seemed a case of "good enough" in the 90s as Toronto had other holes to fill in trying to improve the team while A-Gon was here.
He did last in Toronto through most of the 90s before flitting to a handful of teams over a few years in the early 2000s before calling it a career.
He actually ended up playing for the Cubs, Twins and Padres all within the same 2004 season.
Not bad for a 14th round pick out of 1991.

He ended up being a better ss of the future than the previous one, Mr Edward James Zosky...
ReplyDeleteThat....I cannot argue. :)
