No Luck, Just Linden

Jays had no luck, and a bit of self-destruction last night. It was their chance and should they have won? Well, they had a real opportunity to. I think the stuck ball was a very simple and easy way to tell the difference between baseball fans and the crowd following the game because their team was in it. Clearly a perfectly correct call, the rule is what it is, and the runners get 2 bases to be second and third.

The number of people who were cheering for the Jays having scored and then not understanding what happened surprised me, but I guess it shouldn't it - I had to explain it to the family too as it was happening.

As for the double play to end the game - I don't know how much slack to give in that case. With one out, I am not sure why we were so hard on running - if we thought the ball might be caught at all, we should have hung out at second to try the aggressive play of advancing to third (with how shallow it was, likely wasn't going to fly), but easier to say that when not in the field, it definitely looked like it hung up longer than expected, bu to be fair Kike didn't even have to dive, so I think it was a bit mis-read.

Barger admitted to being too aggressive in his running, can't do much more than that. If it fell and he didn't get to third, people would have been complaining then as well.

The only part of the whole inning I would have changed - Clement taking at least the first pitch - that first out really hurt the situation.

The result - no matter who wins game 7 - it's a well deserved championship, either with LA coming back down 3-2 and beating the pesky Jays, or the Jays never-say-die attitude and coming back from the 18 inning game loss, and devastation of game 6. We shall see tonight!

We  continue with the McD hockey packs today and into the 1992-93 set which I do already have completed, but that won't stop me from opening.

Trevor was the Canucks, and Jeremy will always be a Blackhawk, but I really didn't like the all-star uniforms this year. Too red, white and blue, and not enough team representing.

Look at that, another Trever and Don. I know the set is all of about 25 cards but come on.

Okay, now the packs are just taunting me with a third Linden in three packs. Is what it is I guess, but the odds of that are pretty low.

Maybe the last packs tomorrow will be better.

  1. Finally got a chance to watch a World Series game from start to finish and it was Game 6. What a game. Was really bummed that the Jays lost, but it was truly exciting.

    1. Yes - if it was any team but the Jays, I'd say it was a thrilling game between two teams and is exciting to watch - the result here though....boo! :(
