Feelin' Green

Well, these blasters are usually pretty straight forward in getting no repeat base cards, the exact, or close to exact, number of inserts given the odds, but good news is, we beat those starting today.

Lots of green, but first let's focus on John Morrison. Serial numbered to 99, these are a dark green parallel which hit one every 162 packs, so really nice hit there. The effect itself, meh. I like if it was just the outer border instead of the "inner" background, but I can live with that.

We also get the first foilboard card - Shotzi (those are every 4 packs). Now...I do wonder, if SHotzi has a dark green parallel, does it make her look bald?

My last comment on these cards...please have Pete Dunne go back to being called Pete Dunne. I am done with the Butch name....

2021 Topps WWE

Today, we start with a nice little blaster I picked up a while ago. Not saying when the set first came out, but not too long thereafter actually.

Well, Sasha's gone from the company, but good picks for the rest shown. As for the packs...

No surprise there with Roman front and centre. Too bad Randy has had all of his time off of late. Do wonder if we will see him back at all or not.

With the first pack, we get six base cards, so let's take a look at fronts and backs...

Well, the look is alright. Not wowed by it, but it's fine. The green and purple are...different accent colours, and the fade out kind of minimizes the photo on the front. Backs have the usual write ups, so all fine there I guess.

We then get an NWO Hall of Fame tribute card. Those fall one every 12 packs, so that's likely the one I get here I guess.

Still wish WWE had been able to buy out a few more contracts in the early days of taking over WCW so that the invasion angle could have really grown some legs. Who knows - instead of Raw and Smackdown, we could have had WWE Raw and WCW Thunder instead!

Insert Wrestling Here

Another short but sweet trade sharing post today, and another one with TCDB member JeffWestlake who I have done a few trades with recently. Another PWE, and this one is all wrestling inserts.

The come from 2013 Topps Best of WWE set, and cover a few different insert sets which were "Top 10" or "Top 15) of something. The cards keep a similar design, but do very nicely and easily specify the insert set name on the front, and it's a great way to cover some great wrestlers.

I always felt that WIlliam Regal was undervalued as a wrestler. I think more and more people are of this view as he has been put more in a teaching role behind the scenes since his in ring retirement. He has a great mind for wrestling, and anyone who learns from him can pick up plenty!

It's been nice to hear about Shawn Michaels also getting into a training role with NXT behind the scenes, and Booker T has of course done some announcing for the brand as well.

A shame Eddie passed so you, as he is another I would have expected to be great at teaching and helping behind the scenes. Heck, he may still be wrestling, especially with the Dom/Rey feud of late.

Appreciate the trade Jeff, thanks again!

Wrestling Cards from the baseballcardstore.ca

Just like it says, I picked up 40 cards from www.baseballcardstore.ca which ends up costing about a quarter each when factoring in shipping and foreign exchange rates. A decent price for picking up wrestling cards which are generally harder to find in trades on TCDB. SO what did I get?

Okay, so I had to pick up ONE baseball card, I mean, it's in the website name, so I felt obliged to do so.

Then we get to work on a couple base sets. 2019 SmackDown Live got a bunch of help here. I am still missing about 10-15 cards with these ones, but much closer than I was.

2021 WWE Topps Road To Wrestlemania is a set I started building from a blaster box, but more help here.

It's pretty nice to be able to pick up some inserts for a quarter, and I like both these - the WrestleMania roster and the bronze parallels.

Here is the set I wanted the most help on:

As the orders are best done 40 cards at a time, I think there may be a few more I can get from them, but this was a good jump into it. I still need about 20 cards for the base set I think, but these did cut it in half. Still - got my man Miz card now at least!

Let's Go New Jays!

I received a small surprise package of Blue Jays cards from Doug over at Sportscards From The Dollar Store all the way back in March. I had emailed to say thank you when they were received, but said that it would wait until May before I had a chance to share...and here we are!

Doug provided a bunch of newer Jays cards, many of which hadn't even had a chance to get onto my want list. I don't get the chance to individually add the cards in TCDB (because there are so many cards I want, I can't group add new sets which sucks).

Love any new Vladdy or Bichette card especially, but all nice shiny adds here, and even the Joe Carter card highlighting one of the iconic Jays moments.

We also get all of the (non-SP) base cards from 2022 Stadium Club. The cards all just look so amazing and are a great team set for the collection. I mean, the Joe Carter card is iconic again, but even check out Bo below...just love these cards.

Nicely, we have a single Leaf add as well to ensure hockey isn't ignored.

Really appreciate the surprise, and will be able to get something off to you soon Doug, now that I have a bit more time to do such things!

Gettin' Bugsy With It

I am going to start by apologizing for being a bit late on sharing some of the trades I had in busy season. I could pull and send cards, but trying to keep up with the scans and posts while keeping busy, just wasn't happening. As such, today we have a trade post from a bit ago. Doesn't make the cards less awesome though!

Bugsy241 at TCDB sent along a bunch of Blue Jays cards. Now, it's amazing to see how many from the early 90s, I still need. I mean, with all the microvariations, and even Classic sets I don't ever remember seeing, just lots of good stuff here. The Upper Deck gold hologram factory set cards are nice, though not very different from the other similar cards I have from the retail set.

I still don't have all of the 1991 Donruss variation cards, but I am a few closer. I find it amazing to think I will need a 100 card plastic box to hold all the Jays base cards including variations when all is said and done...crazy!

Big thanks for the trade!

Newer Still

As promised, getting over the humpp of the end of busy season, some more picture-rific Magic cards. Here we have them from 2023 newer release regarding Dominaria and Phyrexia. I mean, I get it, it's like sequels, going back to sets, places that were successful in years gone past, but still different in a card sense. It does give good reason to reprint certain cards.

I talked yesterday about newer sets having the full art or alternative art, etc, and here are some examples of just that. You can see an extended art Table of Compleation in the middle and the "base" card top left for comparison.

Here is the part I love though - as much as I complain of the additional art styles, framing, etc, the retro artifact framing is amazing. I just love it and want them all.

Foil retro frames - so pretty in hand, though they scan almost as a white border foil from the era would. That's alright though, they can do no wrong in my eyes my pretty foil retros.....

Hopefully starting tomorrow, I can take a breather and get some focus back on collecting and sharing here...so much more fun things to do than just work 10-14 hours a day.
