Fishing For Keepers

A slew of baseball cards today which seem to be a bit all over, but heavy on the Tim Salmon so, let's talk a bit about the man.

Tim is the type of player I can appreciate and give a big thumbs up to. He was loyal to the Angels - of whatever city or name they went by, as he played his entire career with the team, from being a rookie and winning rookie of the year for the AL in 1993 until retiring in 2006, he was Mr. Angels.

He may not have been good enough for the Hall of Fame, garnering less than 1% of the votes in his first and only year on the ballot, but he was able to get a World Series ring with the team in 2002, and must have been doing something right to be able to play regularly for the team all those years.

I may not be from the LA area, but I would garner to guess Salmon, in retrospect, was treated much like Trout has been in more recent years - face of the team, great guy, and though Trout may be a bigger star and sure hall of famer, Salmon was no slouch, and loved by the fans just the same.

From the rest of the cards - not Salmon related, I did come across my 250th Jays card in the lot so...yay! Wasn't new to me, but closing in on 500 Toronto keepers out of about 17k total cards isn't too shabby a pull rate.
