So last Christmas - yeah, still opening stuff from last Christmas - I got 24 packs of the 2018-19 Tim Hortons Hockey card set from my mom. I figured this is as close as I am going to get to a "box" and the number of packs is big enough to treat it that way, so let's go through and see how this bunch comes out. Since there are a mere three cards per pack, I'll probably open a couple a day instead of just one that I usually do with these.
Before we get to these packs, I have 4 of the 120 card base set, and since I'd expect typically 2 new base cards in each pack, hopefully I get over half way on this base set, but time will tell.
As usual, we start with pulling off one of the packs for the unopened pack collection, leave 23 packs...let's open one up today and look at it in detail, then maybe 2 a day hereafter.
Base card - 1 point (yes, all cards get a point)
Base card need - 2 points
Base variation card - 20 points
Base card Toronto card - 5 points
Base variation Toronto card - 50 points
Insert Card bonus - points based on odds - if 1 in 4 - worth 4 points, double if a Toronto card
An excellent start getting a Leaf right off the bat.
Another base need and...
A solid (every 6 pack) insert, and of The Kid too doesn't hurt.
I really like the feel, design, and how the cards look in hand. Definitely one of my favourite sets out there in the last year or two, but I usually feel that way when it comes to the Tim Hortons sets.
1 pack, 3 cards, 13 points.
I like the look of that Superstar Showcase insert. It reminds me of the Flair Showcase cards of the 90's.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does have a similar look.
