Finally getting to a newer repack option which came around our Walmart a couple months ago.
So what do we get....
- 1 Graded Card (likely to be just a random base card)
- 1 Hobby Pack (hopefully new for my unopened pack collection)
- 5 Factory Sealed Packs (hopefully again, a new item or two there)
- 2 Triple Play Packs (well, at least they tell you)
- 1 Bonus Item (hopefully another pack, but who knows)
Well....
So the bonus item will be the 2012 pack of stickers. Too bad it's stickers - otherwise I'd keep it unopened, but we will be opening that one me thinks.
The graded card, nothing too special...might just keep that and use it as a box topper on one of my box trades...unless anyone is specifically interested in it.
The hobby pack is the 2018 Series One Topps cards (so glad they went to putting the easy marking on these).
As for the three 2019 packs, nice to get those since I haven't picked up any personally, though have some of the cards via trade.
So at the end of the day, unopened keepers are...
- 2016 Gypsy Queen
- 2018 Topps Series 1 Hobby
- 2019 Topps Series 1
Not too bad. As for the rest, will open those over the next few days and see where they lead us. Today - let's just get the Triple Play out of the way.
Oh, and scoring reminder...
Base card - 1 point (yes, all cards get a point)
Base card need - 2 points
Base variation card - 20 points
Base card Toronto card - 5 points
Base variation Toronto card - 50 points
Insert Card bonus - points based on odds - if 1 in 4 - worth 4 points, double if a Toronto card
Pack 1:
Man - these never look good. Not sure why I keep these...not sure I want to have a complete set. Heck, not sure I really want the Jays card in my collection, but there they shall be.
Ah, the inserts - because a random Sac Fly insert is so great to get. At least the stickers are pretty consistent with the base set design.
The one dupe in the pack...
Pack 2:
More "keepers" from the set.
The inserts...
Then we end with the best card of the couple packs...
I will say, some of these shots do bear a resemblance to the person to which it relates, and credit to the artists accordingly. Too bad the overall thought of this set was just, lacking.
2 Packs, 14 cards, 52 Points.
Yikes - these score high with the insert cards since there are a couple per pack, atleast.
Kudos to Gems of the Game. They actually tell you straight up that they're gonna give you Triple Play packs. I would have left that off of the box for marketing purposes.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteAt least it's only 2 packs.
ReplyDeleteI'd opened somevrepackz and had 3 or 4 of them. I admit to opening then dropping in nearest trash can lol
I'd be upset if I actually considered them to be cards (though they try).
