First, let's take a look at the couple inserts which came out of this chunk of cards...
The Joe Montana 9 card subset is a nice one, though we have seen this card before. As for the holographic card - new one, and hey, it's Barry freakin' Sanders!
We have seen a few of the Aerial Threat cards which are in the base set, and there are five more here, including Dan Marino - one of the best QBs to never win a Super Bowl.
Next section of cards to highlight to me would be the team checklists which are by Vernon Wells. I am going to go way out on a limb here and say this is not the same Vernon Wells that played in the major leagues, most notably with the Blue Jays. Though he would have been about 12-13 when these came out...so I guess it is possible...
Lastly, since we have seen plenty of the normal base set, here are the MVP checklist and MVP cards which are part of the base set, and which came out of these cards...
Somw big names of the day including Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith...names I know...and as much as I liked Boomer - was this the best they could do - a picture of him sitting on the bench chatting away on the headset?
Well, the last two hundred cards in the 700 card set are the update series, so if we ignore that and just look at the 500 base cards, I now stand at 75.4% completion for the 500 cards...not bad, and given we still have a good ways left to go, makes me think we will be close on completion of the 400 cards on this one...
