So, one of the boxes I got myself a while ago, and didn't have a chance to crack was this...
Now, with the amazing gift from RAZ, by time I got around to this box - there is really nothing I need from the packs...but I still want my unopened packs...so what to do. Well, I opened the box, and took aside for the unopened pack collection...
I know the hit is a shirt or mat relic from the feel, but didn't look at the cards closely to see if I could tell by position of the swatch - regardless, closed it stays.
So that left me with 9 extra packs and nothing specific to do with the,. I did include a couple as bonus in various trades or cards sent around, but kept a few - maybe for a contest or giveaway later - I'll think of something!
Anyway let's take another break between boxes with...
Better dollar store purchase options in the US than there are in Canada.
Starting as usual with the search for Jays....and we catch one...
The good is that this is a new card for my Jays collection. The bad news is, it's J.P. Arencibia. I was never a fan as he just couldn't do much of anything at the plate as a Jay. Yes, he could hit a few homers, but he was a career .212 hitter - yikes. I was surprised to look up now, he has a better career WAR on offence than defense. Maybe he wasn't as bad as I remember...nah...he is...it was enhanced with the disappointment of being a prospect that didn't bring much to the table when all was said and done.
So keepers...
Can't complain about getting an early 80s Yount! Not to mention a similar Jim Rice - nice to get the early cards, but nice HOFers, even better.
The rest of the keepers with the usual spread in years, and being a bit Topps heavy in general. Like the Topps Heritage design in general, but the rookie crd logo looks so out of place on the O'Sullivan card - wish they could figure out a decent retro design to use for it.
The traders...
I don't know why, other than the unusual quality of it, but I really love the Eric Show card.
Another above par pack all in, and good lead in to the next box from Dave and Adam's. The most expensive one I bought, though still well on sale, at about $36 USD. To be honest, I think it's likely a slam dunk for being the best box of the year, but only time will tell.
Intrigued enough to come back tomorrow? Good - see you then.
Don't watch WWE... but I love me some Asuka!
ReplyDeleteI remember being at a game when Arencibia was struggling and I wrote a "K" in my scorebook before the at bat started...
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say... I was right... lol
