I guess the COVID lot decided to keep with the rookie and prospecting theme, and just change up the sport as we get some from football now.
Now, if you don't know who Gizmo Williams is, it's a bit understandable as he really made his name in the CFL in the 80s and early 90s. He was a special teams guy and still holds many records, including number of punts returned for touchdowns with 26. He was exciting to watch as he had the speed and agility for most of his career that made him unpredictable. Here we get him as an NFL prospect card, and two versions nonetheless as the writing on the bottom left corner is on one, but not the other.
We then also get a bunch of Score rookie mugshots. I mean, they seem very mugshot like.
Always happy to see Bruce Smith - was a fave back when I watched a bit and followed the Bills.
As seems to be the case with this lot of cards, we have some promo or sample cards here as the '94 Playoff cards are just that, as is the Gary Clark. Not very expensive cards or anything, but considering they cost me less than a penny each, should make for solid trade fodder to get a card I do need, or two.
We even get to end with a Panthers redemption card. A neat pull, though a bit past it's expiry at this point. Heck, it's a great card just for how nicely it's all about the logo. Almost want it as a team logo subset card instead!
I wonder if Topps would even respond if someone tried to send in one of those old redemptions? Probably not, but it would still be fun to try.
