Die Cut to Close

I didn't get to comment on this yesterday, but yes, the Leafs lost their series against Columbus in 6 games. Being a Toronto lifelong fan, I expected they were out of it by the third period of game 4, however they had that great comeback. Luckily, again, being a lifelong Leaf fan, I knew better than to get my hopes up yet. Then game 5 was what I was unfortunately expecting it would be - dashed disappointment after game 4.

I'd like to say there is always next year, but who knows what that is going to look like right now.

As we get to the very last pack in the 2004-05 Pacific hobby box, we end with a nice surprise...

These die cut cards fall every 37 packs, so just less than one per box, and we waited to the very end to see one here. The crown die cut is a nice design, though the gold foil may be a bit hit or miss on making or breaking the card, but I think it works here.

The last few base cards from the box which does get us over 67% which isn't too shabby for a box in a 300 card set. There were a few dupes...

but I can't complain at all when I get a couple Leafs dupes so I have one for the base set and one for the team collection - perfect!

36 Packs, 252 Cards, 1,492 Points.

So where does that put us for the 2019 openings thus far...

1) 2019-20 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Packs 336.5648
2) 2019 Topps Chrome Value Pack 332.3750
3) 2019 Topps Opening Day Blaster 1 14.8750
4) 2018 Diamond Kings Baseball 6.0400
5) 2004-05 Pacific Hockey Hobby Box 5.9206
6) 2019 Topps WWE Women's Division Blaster 5.6825
7) 2017-18 Upper Deck CDN Exclusive Series 1 Box 5.5128
8) 2013 Triple Play Baseball Box 3.2588
9) 2017 Topps Series 1 Baseball Jumbo Packs 3.2222
10) 2017 Panini Chronicles Baseball Blaster 3.0000

A very solid 5th place which is an excellent showing.

So overall, a good product that had a good turn out of cards for my collection, and as I expected, a good start on the base set.

Should I have bought a second box? I debated it at the time, but not sure how close it would really get me on the base set. For the price, it could have been a thought and I wouldn't have been upset with a second having now opened the first.

Not sure what is up for tomorrow...but it won't be 2004-05 Pacific...

  1. Sweet die-cut... even if it's a Red Wing.

    1. I just searched COMC to see who else was in this set. Sad to see that there were only eight guys in this insert set... but one of them was a Shark :D
