It's Like Wrestlemania

Happy birthday to me! It was always like Wrestlemania - once a year. Until this year they decided to make Wrestlemania a two night event. I on the other hand, will do no such thing, one day of birthday is enough. This year is "the big 4-0" which honestly isn't a big deal to me.

It is however an excuse to open some cards, and why not a father's day box since I am "behind" (see slow at opening stuff), and today's card gifts will see the light of day some time in the next week or two (or month or two...maybe).

Today then we have a blaster of...

2020 Road to Wrestlemania cards.

As always, we first take a couple of the packs as is and send them off to the unopened pack collection...

A well deserved pack cover for Kofi. The Tampa Bay design which is very Buccaneer-esque is throughout the Wreslemani logo and design on the box and packs, I can appreciate that.

As for the cards - rather than do a pack by pack for the 9 I am opening, I'll summarize and show the scans once opened as these are all new cards for me.

The "normal" pack is basically 5 base cards (one possibly being an insert) and 2 other cards which are from the Wrestlemania Roster insert set. To break down the cards, that ended up being 39 base cards, 18 WrestleMania Roster cards, and 6 other insert cards.

So, base cards first...

With the Road to Wrestlemania set, if you had a good year, you get a number of cards in this set as we see with the same few guys on the 205 cards.

Yikes - four amazing talents that just didn't have the opportunity for a good match given the short prep time (such is my understanding from the comments I saw in some interviews).

The framing of these cards is alright and matches the Wrestlemania theme. As I go through these more, I am liking them a bit more.

Okay, that's a pretty unique and interesting short of Daniel Bryan.

Rusec deserved better than he got in his run with WWE, especially after Rusev Day caught on, but they just didn't do as much with it as they could.

Honestly, R-Truth has been around forever and deserves all the success that he can get (anyone else remember K-Kwik?). Though he was in TNA for about 5 years, he has otherwise been in WWE since about 1998. The man is an inspirational story - check out his 24/7 special if you get the change - again, all the success to the man.

Have to give Shane props for being able to go coast to coast as he isn't a spring chicken anymore.

Next up would be the Wrestlemania Roster inserts...

Again, a solid design and I like these as a set to collect as a who is who for the year and the roster.

So, the rest of the inserts? Well, every other pack is a foil parallel...

An interesting scan to these, but at least you easily notice the difference in hand.

Last up, another parallel...

A solid pull in a gold parallel - which you can see in the change in the border from grey to gold, and as you can also see, these are SN out of 10. This is the lowest SN card I have ever pulled. Bobby is a solid base card pull, though not one of my fave wrestlers, I am hoping they can get him closer to a Lesnar level talent, because he has the body for it, just needs a bit more mouthpiece/personality to shine through.

Oh, and odds for a gold parallel pull - every 581 packs...sweet!

So scoring this one up and putting it on the list, that greal low SN pull makes a big impact unsurprisingly.
